FAQ
Who may become a member of TEA?
People who are already teachers of English, or people with the intention of becoming a teacher of English are welcome to join
our association. Institutions or schools may also apply for membership for their teachers at a reduced rate.
How do I become a member of TEA?
Complete the registration form on our website and return it to us by fax or snail mail or by pressing the send button. Click here
to reach the registration form.
How much does it cost to join TEA?
Membership costs 33 euros for teachers and 22 euros if you are a student or a retired teacher. For prices for institutions,
please contact our office at: office@tea4teachers.org
What are the benefits of joining TEA?
We publish a biannual magazine, ELT News, our fall/winter and spring/summer editions, which has interesting articles,
information about upcoming events as well as a review of past events, book reviews, and special sections devoted to
the interests of the business English teachers and teachers of young learners. As a member you are also encouraged
to share your knowledge by writing an article as well.
We also have a free electronic newsletter that comes to your email address once a month with interesting upcoming
events and information. Should you wish to announce your own event, you can do so in this newsletter by contacting:
office@tea4teachers.org.
Reduced rates for attending TEA workshops and seminars, our summer school and conferences are available, not only
within Austria but with our partner associations in Croatia, Hungary, the Czech Republic and Germany. Free admission
to social events sponsored by TEA.
Can I attend workshops and seminars offered by TEA without being a member?
Yes, all of our workshops and seminars are open to members of the public. Please register for the seminar or workshop that
interests you through our office at: office@tea4teachers.org. We at TEA are interested in receiving new input and information
from any of our colleagues. Should you decide to attend a TEA event, you may decide to become a member and then pay
the lower membership fee for the event.
Must I register in advance to attend a TEA event?
While you will not be turned away from any of our events should you not have registered in advance, it could be that a
change in the venue may have occurred or the event might have been cancelled and you will not have been informed.
Should there not be enough seating, then those who registered in advance will receive first choice.
I am looking for work teaching English. Can TEA be of assistance?
The main function of TEA is to assist its members in continuing development and networking. We are not involved in
announcing or finding positions for our members or for members of the public. However, we occasionally hear of a job
opportunity and let our members know about it through our electronic newsletter. Informal networking at one of our
events may also give you some idea of what positions might be available.
Can TEA help me with immigration and visa formalities?
We are not in a position to offer any help with these questions and suggest you contact the local authorities in
your own country or here in Austria. Informal information through networking with teachers already at work here
can be achieved through attending our workshops and conferences.
Can TEA give me information about tax and social security questions for English teachers?
TEA is not in a position to offer this kind of information except on an informal basis through networking possibilities.
How can we advertise or market our products or services to the members of TEA?
Sponsoring and advertisements of all kinds are accepted and welcomed from related industries. Sponsoring of
workshops can mean that your information is available to members attending the workshops as well as offers
the possibility of a stand or a short power point presentation before the start of the workshop. It is also
possible to be listed as one of our partners with your logo present on our website. Our ELT News, printed twice
a year, is also available for print ads of various sizes and costs. Please contact our chair Anne Storey* for
further information.
